Max Chion is currently Group Executive of Emerging Payment Products and in this role, Max is responsible for defining and developing the digital products and solutions required to achieve the vision for MasterCard 3.0. The role of the Products team includes the definition of the stakeholders value propositions (Consumers, Merchants, Issuers, others), business models, economics and product P&L, business requirements, packaging and product marketing strategy, product innovation and R&D and providing channels and sales force training. Under the Products team umbrella, Max is responsible for MasterPass & Convergence Products, Credential Management, Personal Payments & Mobile Money, Merchant Interfaces & New Products, Open API and Product Economics & Value Creation.
Max leverages his in-market experience and work with products to drive alignment and market readiness across all products. At MasterCard, he has held the role of Group Executive of Global Products & Solutions for MasterCard Latin America core and the Caribbean region. Most recently, Max was Group Executive of Product Platforms in Emerging Payments.
Before joining MasterCard, Mr. Chion was chief executive officer for Banco del Trabajo and country manager for Grupo Altas Cumbres. In his role as country manager, Mr. Chion was responsible for the groups dedicated to Insurance and Real Estate. Prior to working at Grupo Altas Cumbres and Banco del Trabajo where he held several positions, Mr. Chion worked for Banco Hipotecario S.A., in Argentina, as vice president of the Retail Bank business and consultant for McKinsey & Co. Consulting firm. A native of Peru, Mr. Chion holds an MBA from J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru. He is fluent in Spanish and English.
